Key media concepts

There are 4 main media concepts

1: Institutions: These are usually large global companies such as broadcasting companies, newspaper and magazine publishers, film production companies, music and publishing companies, and some governments.

2: Media language: Media language is the way in which the meaning of a media text is conveyed to the audience. One of the ways Media Language works is to convey meaning through signs and symbols suggested by the way a scene is set up and filmed.

3: Representations: Media representations are the ways in which the media portrays particular groups, communities, experiences, ideas, or topics from a particular ideological or value perspective.

4: Audience: the audience is any group of people who receive a media text, and not just people who are together in the same place.
